First Trailer for You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah Features Adam Sandler and His Family

Adam Sandler stars in a new Netflix comedy called “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah,” where he acts alongside his real-life daughter and the rest of his family. The movie is based on Fiona Rosenbloom’s 2005 novel of the same name and follows the story of Stacy, played by Sandler’s daughter Sunny Sandler, as she navigates the challenges of adolescence. Stacy and her best friend Lydia, portrayed by Samantha Lorraine, have always imagined throwing the most amazing bat mitzvah. However, when Stacy witnesses Lydia kissing the boy she likes, she abruptly ends their friendship and gives up on her dreams of living in neighboring lofts in Taylor Swift’s building. Sandler takes on the role of Stacy’s father, with his wife Jackie and daughter Sadie also making appearances in supporting roles. Additionally, Idina Menzel, Sandler’s co-star from “Uncut Gems,” plays his onscreen wife and Stacy’s mother. The film, directed by Sammi Cohen, features a talented cast including Sarah Sherman, Luis Guzmán, and Jackie Hoffman. Sandler, who also serves as a producer, believes that both kids and adults will relate to the movie’s themes. Cohen mentioned that the film not only provides insight into the Jewish coming-of-age experience but also explores broader ideas about what it means to be a child today. The movie promises a mix of excitement and worry, capturing the rollercoaster emotions that come with being thirteen. Fans of Adam Sandler spotted him recently attending Taylor Swift’s final Eras concert in Los Angeles, and the film includes a nod to the pop star. “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah” will premiere on Netflix on August 25th.
