Aya Cash, the antagonist from The Boys, is creating another superhero satire for HBO.

Aya Cash, who gained recognition for her role as the supervillain Stormfront in the popular series The Boys, is set to appear in another superhero satire. She has been cast in The Franchise, an upcoming comedy series on HBO that delves into the challenges faced in the production of a struggling superhero movie. Joining her is Himesh Patel, known for his roles in Yesterday and Tenet. The show has received a series order from HBO, but details about their characters are scarce. Cash will play a character named Anita, while Patel will portray Daniel. According to the logline, The Franchise aims to explore the hidden chaos in the world of superhero moviemaking and ask the question: How does the magic of cinema come together despite its many obstacles? The series boasts a talented cast, including Jessica Hynes, Billy Magnussen, Lolly Adefope, Darren Goldstein, and Isaac Powell. Guest stars with superhero experience, such as Richard E. Grant and Daniel Brühl, will also make appearances to add their satirical touch to the genre. The pilot for The Franchise was directed by Sam Mendes, known for his work on films like Skyfall and American Beauty. Production of the series will begin once the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes have been resolved. This marks Mendes’ first venture into episodic work for television. The pilot was written by Jon Brown, who has contributed to successful shows like Succession and Veep, and he will serve as the showrunner. Armando Ianucci, the creator of Veep, has also played a role in shaping the pilot’s story and will serve as an executive producer for the series. Recently, Cash was seen supporting the SAG-AFTRA strike alongside her fellow cast members from The Boys.
