Early audition tapes of late Euphoria actor, Angus Cloud, shared by his mother.

Angus Cloud, the talented actor from the TV show Euphoria, tragically passed away last week at the young age of 25. The news broke when his mother, Lisa Cloud, shared a heartfelt post on her Facebook page. In the post, Lisa mentioned that Jennifer Venditti, the individual who discovered Angus in Brooklyn, had sent her links to his first casting tapes. These tapes were instrumental in getting Angus the role of Fezco in Euphoria. Lisa expressed her gratitude for the tapes, stating that they truly captured her son’s unique spirit.

The casting tapes, spanning six minutes, give us a glimpse into the 19-year-old Angus’s thoughts on life. He shares his profound philosophy on friendship, love, and gratitude. In the videos, Angus emphasizes the importance of embracing spontaneity and adventure. He fondly recalls the times he and his friends would sneak into zoos and amusement parks, reminiscing about an occasion where he jumped into a warthog enclosure at the Oakland Zoo, acknowledging the sketchiness of his actions.

Angus also talks about the complexities of relationships and the need to accept people for who they are. He acknowledges that friends may have habits or behaviors that we don’t necessarily like, but it’s essential to embrace their uniqueness. When asked about his perspective on true love, Angus admits that he has experienced it but tries to guard his emotions to avoid the burden that comes with it. However, he acknowledges that love is a powerful force and that resisting it is futile. He believes that it is instinctual to form connections with others, and the most important aspect of his life is the love he gives and receives.

In a poignant moment, Angus struggles to identify the worst aspect of his life, expressing that everything is going well for him and he has nothing to complain about. This glimpse into his optimistic and contented outlook on life makes his passing all the more shocking and heartbreaking.

Addressing the circumstances of his passing, Lisa Cloud wanted to clarify that Angus did not intend to end his life. She shared that they had exchanged loving words and hugs before going to bed the night before, with the intention of seeing each other in the morning. Unfortunately, Angus fell asleep while working on an art project, and tragically did not wake up. The cause of his passing remains unknown.

In honor of Angus’s memory, HBO, the network behind Euphoria, added a tribute to him at the beginning of two episodes. The tribute simply states, “In memory of Angus Cloud 1998 – 2023,” and serves as a touching acknowledgment of the impact he had on the show and those who watched it.

Angus Cloud’s untimely departure is a devastating loss for the entertainment industry and his fans. His talent and vibrant spirit will be greatly missed.
