Gal Gadot dedicated a month to perfecting her audition song for Snow White.

Gal Gadot’s career has taken an exciting turn since her viral performance of “Imagine.” The accomplished actress, known for her role as Wonder Woman, has been cast as the Evil Queen in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Snow White. To secure the coveted role, Gadot had to showcase her musical abilities, dedicating an entire month to honing her singing skills. In a recent video released by GQ, she detailed the audition process and expressed her excitement after successfully landing the part.

For this musical adaptation, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the talented songwriting duo responsible for hits like The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen, will introduce new songs. Their exceptional lyrical work in La La Land earned them an Oscar, and they previously collaborated with Disney on the 2019 Aladdin remake, contributing lyrics to new music by Alan Menken.

Gadot enthusiastically shared her experience shooting the film, emphasizing its departure from her previous projects. She described it as a delightful and delicious opportunity where she could fully embrace theatricality and go big with her performance.

While promoting her new film Heart of Stone, Gadot disclosed a conversation with her daughter regarding her role. Initially assuming her mom would portray Snow White, her daughter was not surprised to learn that Gadot would be portraying the villainous Evil Queen. According to Gadot, her daughter’s response was appropriately amusing, acknowledging the fitting nature of her role.

Interestingly, this won’t be Gadot’s first foray into a Disney musical. In 2018’s Ralph Breaks the Internet, she briefly joined forces with Sarah Silverman, her “Imagine” collaborator, for the song “A Place Called Slaughter Race.” Now, Gadot will face off against Rachel Zegler, known for her roles in West Side Story and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, who plays Snow White in the upcoming film. The highly anticipated movie is set to premiere on March 22, 2024, and will be directed by Marc Webb, with a script written by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
