Jessica Chastain, the talented actress recognized for her Oscar win, her successful Broadway performances, and her insightful vision as an agent, recently shared her thoughts on fellow actor Michael Shannon’s potential as a stripper. In a social media video celebrating Shannon’s 49th birthday and reflecting on their collaboration in the George & Tammy series, Chastain suggested that Shannon would thrive in a Magic Mike movie. She even revealed that Shannon expressed interest in participating if a tempting offer came along.
Chastain took her plea to the public, directly addressing Channing Tatum and Steven Soderbergh, the masterminds behind the Magic Mike franchise that made waves in Hollywood in 2012. She urged them to help make Shannon’s birthday wish come true. In the video, Shannon himself humorously proposed a project titled “Magic Mike vs. the Avengers” while the song “Pony” by Ginuwine played in the background.
The Magic Mike movies, known for their sensual and captivating narratives, have received critical acclaim and achieved impressive box office success, with a combined total of nearly $347 million across three films that were produced on relatively modest budgets. The latest installment, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, premiered in February and featured Tatum alongside new cast member Salma Hayek.
Despite this excitement surrounding the franchise, Shannon recently expressed his reservation towards Hollywood franchises. In fact, he declined a role in a Star Wars movie, citing his lack of interest in spending extensive time on such projects. According to Empire Magazine, Shannon stated that he prefers to engage in work that holds a meaningful purpose instead of contributing to mindless entertainment which he believes is already inundating the world.
