Margot Sisson expresses gratitude to Below Deck Down Under for addressing sexual misconduct and taking necessary action: ‘I will always appreciate it’

Margot Sisson from Below Deck Down Under has spoken up about the incidents of sexual misconduct that took place during the Aug. 7 episode, which resulted in the firing of two cast members. One of them, bosun Luke Jones, was shown entering Sisson’s bed without her consent while naked. Additionally, second steward Laura Bileskalne made inappropriate remarks. These actions prompted immediate action from the show’s producers and Captain Jason Chambers, who promptly terminated their employment.

Sisson took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the responsible handling of the situation. She specifically thanked Aesha Scott, a fellow cast member who intervened when Jones started making advances towards Sisson while she was still intoxicated. In the episode, Scott assured Sisson that she wanted to make sure she was safe and provided her with water. Sisson praised Scott for recognizing the vulnerability of the situation and intervening on her behalf. She expressed her admiration and gratitude towards Scott, calling her actions heroic and admirable.

Sisson also expressed her appreciation to Captain Jason for his immediate response to the situation, stating that he left no room for any nonsense. She acknowledged that some captains might choose to ignore or downplay such incidents, but she was grateful that Captain Jason took the matter seriously and consistently made her feel safe and supported. Sisson then addressed the firing of Laura Bileskalne, who not only made inappropriate comments directed at Sisson but also made unwanted advances towards deckhand Adam Kodra. Sisson emphasized that if she had woken up to a boat full of people with the same mindset as Bileskalne, she would have continued to blame herself and believe that what happened was acceptable.

She extended her sympathy to others who may have experienced similar situations and reassured them that their emotions are valid. Sisson stressed that no one should blame themselves for such incidents, as their body, space, and bed are their own and should not be invaded without consent. In her final post, Sisson revealed that her relationship with alcohol has significantly changed since filming the season, and she no longer relies on it. She acknowledged her growth since then and expressed her pride in the person she has become today.
