Paramore’s tour abruptly shortened due to Hayley Williams’ lung infection, as she fears potential long-term consequences.

The final two shows of Paramore’s North American tour have been canceled because lead singer Hayley Williams needs to focus on her health. Williams, who is 34 years old, revealed in a statement shared by the band on Thursday that she has been struggling to recover from a lung infection, and performing at a show in Seattle on Wednesday night was particularly challenging and “scary” for her. Despite hoping that a week of rest and medication would help her heal, she realized that pushing through the remaining tour dates would risk long-term damage to her health. As a result, the band has decided to refund tickets for the shows in Portland and Salt Lake City. In an Instagram Story, Williams apologized to fans and explained that her lungs are not healing quickly enough. The canceled shows, along with two others in Seattle and San Francisco, were previously postponed due to illness within the touring party. Williams has been taking antibiotics and steroids to combat the infection, but her body ultimately gave out. Paramore began their North American tour in October last year and are scheduled to perform at the New Yorker Festival in October, followed by international shows starting in November. It is uncertain how these upcoming dates will be affected.
